Kristi Honeywell became Pierre’s City Administrator in August of 2017.
Under general administrative and policy direction from the City Commission, Honeywell is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and coordinating all activities of city government. She directs approximately 150 employees in the areas of Utilities, Engineering, Planning, Solid Waste, Building Services, Airport, Human Resources, Library, Park and Recreation, Business Office, Police, and Fire.
Prior to her work in local government, Honeywell spent 24 years in state government where she most recently served in a dual capacity as both the State Engineer and the Deputy Commissioner for the South Dakota Bureau of Administration.
In that role, she oversaw construction and repairs of all state-owned buildings, oversaw construction services and the budget for those efforts, managed an engineering team, and the Bureau’s Division of Central Services. Honeywell also worked as an engineer for the South Dakota Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
Honeywell holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry with a minor in Math from Southeast Missouri State University
