PIERRE, SD – The City of Pierre Streets Department is providing an update on current work and upcoming construction activities as the community transitions into the spring and summer season.
Residents can expect a temporary lane closure on the Pierre/Fort Pierre Bridge, with a bridge banner installation scheduled for 8:00 a.m. on March 25, 2025.
Across the city, regular spring maintenance is underway. Crews are actively completing crack sealing to help extend the life of roadways and are addressing potholes as part of ongoing seasonal maintenance efforts.
At the Pierre Regional Airport, dirt work continues, with concrete removal near the project site now completed. Work will continue as conditions allow.
As the weather improves, residents will begin to see an increase in construction activity throughout Pierre. Curb and gutter crews will begin work soon, marking the start of several planned infrastructure improvement projects.
The City is well-prepared for the upcoming construction season, with materials such as base course, pipe fittings, and other essential supplies already on hand. These resources will support a variety of Public Utilities and roadway improvement projects scheduled for the coming months.
“We appreciate the public’s patience as crews work to improve roadways, utilities, and overall community infrastructure,” said Mayor Steve Harding.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed by following the City of Pierre on social media or visiting www.cityofpierre.org for updates.
