Are you ready for spring? Rawlins Library sure is. Check out the spring-themed programs and activities it has planned during the month of May.

READSquare APP

Help your kids stay up on their reading skills throughout the summer with the READSquare APP. It’s a free digital reading log that allows parents to track reading progress and allows kids to receive in-app rewards like games and emoji’s. For more information, visit Rawlins Municipal Library.

MOTHER’S DAY TAKE AND MAKE KITS: MAY 1 - 31

The library is providing make and take craft kits to help kids create Mother’s Day treats for their moms. Kits are available while supplies last.

STORY TIME (Wednesdays): May 3, 10, 17, 23, and 31 at 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m., and 1:30 p.m.

Kids ages 0 through pre-kindergarten are invited to Rawlins Library for stories and sing-a-longs during any of the four sessions held on Wednesdays.

National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women: Friday, May 5, 12 p.m.

She’s working to keep indigenous women in South Dakota safe and to bring closure to the families of those women who have been lost. Hear about Tanya Grassel-Krietlow’s work at the South Dakota Network Against Family Violence and Sexual Assault and how you can help. The program is free and open to the public.

FIRST FRIDAY FREE PLAY: Friday, May 5, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Rawlins Library is opening its toy box! Try out our board games, Legos, puppets and more. Open to all ages

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM: LEGO FREE PLAY: Tuesday, May 9, 3:30 p.m. – 4:15 p.m.

The Library will open up its chest of Lego bricks, pieces and minifigures. See what they will inspire you to create. 

RAWLINS LIBRARY SUMMER READING KICK-OFF CARNIVAL & SIGN UP: Saturday, May 13, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Stop by the library lawn for bean bag toss, cake walk, lollipop tree, duck pond, pop ring-toss, special guests and Summer Reading Program sign up. In case of bad weather, the event will be at the YMCA gym.

BUTTERFLIES OF SOUTH DAKOTA: Friday, May 19 at 1 p.m.

Gary Marrone, a Fort Pierre butterfly collector and expert, will provide information about the butterflies that can be found in the Pierre area and across the state. The program is free and open to the public.

POLLINATOR GARDENING CLASS: Tuesday, May 23 at 1 p.m.

Looking to attract butterflies, bees, and other pollinators to your garden? Charlene Bessken, a retired biologist from US Fish and Wildlife, will help you identify the best plants for the job.  The program is free and open to the public.
