A portion of the city walking path located between the Missouri River and the Oahe Sports Complex in southeast Pierre is temporarily closed.
The detour is signed and directs people north to the softball complex fields, through the complex and then back south to the walking path.
The path is closed as part of the wastewater treatment plant renovation project. A new pipe is being placed between the plant and the Missouri River. Once construction is finished, the path will be restored complete with a pedestrian bridge.
The walking path is expected to reopen early next year.
