Due to a material delivery delay, the Highland Ave. construction project is pushed back a week.
Barring any other unforeseen complications, the project will now begin Monday, July 19. At that time, Highland Ave., between Wynoka Ave. and Elizabeth St. will close to through traffic. Additionally, the Highland and Oak, Highland and Seneca, and Highland and Elizabeth intersections will close.
Closures will remain in place until the project is complete this fall.
During the project, a 70-year-old water main will be replaced, new curb and gutter will be installed, and the street will receive a new asphalt surface.
In May, the Pierre City Commission awarded a $1.4 million contract to Morris Inc. to complete the project.
