Weather permitting, a portion of West Second Street will close this week for construction work.
West Second, between Capitol Ave. and Edgewater Dr., will close to through traffic on Tuesday, April 13. The closure will allow the city to replace an aging water main.
Local traffic will maintain access. The section of street is expected to reopen by Saturday, April 17. Through traffic is encouraged to detour around the area.
The city maintains 80 miles of streets, more than 100 miles of water main, and more than 60 miles of sanitary sewer. Each year, city staff assess the streets, in addition to utilities, sidewalks and curbs to prioritize street maintenance and reconstruction projects.
