Cut Trees Available to Public
The City of Pierre recently cleared a natural drainage ditch of trees and are making those cut trees available to the public.
The trees were culled from a drainage way that leads from the Herseth Drive area south past Riverside Cemetery and the state Women’s Prison to the south side of E. Wells Avenue. The trees were causing erosion that was leading to underground utility damage. Consequently, the trees were removed by City staff.
Beginning at 8 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 22, the public is invited to take the cut wood. It will be located near the intersection of Roosevelt Ave. and Cemetery Road through Tuesday, Jan. 26. The wood is in large sections and may need to be further cut on site prior to hauling.
Any wood that remains after Jan. 26 will be taken to the City’s Baling Facility Material Site. Year round, the Baling Facility makes wood material available to the public at no charge. It can be collected during normal business hours. For more information, contact the City Baling Facility at 605.773.7434.
