[ARCHIVED] Quest for Knowledge Continues Amidst COVID

Quest for Knowledge Continues Amidst COVID

The Corona Virus isn’t keeping Rawlins Municipal Library down.

To keep patrons and staff safe from the virus, in mid-March, the Library swapped walk-in service for curbside service with a sanitization process, and doubled down on its virtual assistance. According to Library Director Robin Schrupp, the change hasn’t quelled the community’s desire for knowledge.

“In the last 30 days, we have provided more than 4,000 items to our customers,” said Schrupp. “We have people that phone in a reading list and others who tap our eBooks, study courses, and databases from home.”

The Library’s goal is to continue offering as many of its normal services to patrons as possible. This week is National Library week, and the Library’s goal is echoed in the theme Find the Library at Your Place.

“You know, the theme started out as Find Your Place at the Library,” said Schrupp. “In light of the pandemic, the theme aptly flipped a bit.”

During the pandemic, the Library is offering a temporary two-month card to anyone, regardless of residency.

“This gives everyone access to digital services and gives them the ability to Find the Library at Your Place,” Schrupp said.

To acquire a card, call Rawlins Library at 773.7421 or visit

National Library Week is a national observance endorsed by the American Library Association (ALA) and has been celebrated by libraries across the country each April since 1958.
