Weather permitting, a portion of Capitol Ave. will close tomorrow for street maintenance operations. Parking restrictions will be in place overnight tonight.
Capitol Ave. between Nicollet Ave. and Wells Ave. will close tomorrow around 9 a.m. for fog sealing operations. No parking will be permitted on Capitol between Nicollet Ave. and Wells Ave. from 5 p.m. this evening until tomorrow afternoon. Work is expected to be complete by noon on Thursday. Traffic barriers and parking restrictions will be removed once work is finished.
Fog sealing is a construction process used to extend the life of streets. Oil is placed on the roadway to seal the surface and prevent moisture from penetrating the top layer of the road.
The City maintains 80 miles of streets. Each year, City staff assess the streets, in addition to utilities, sidewalks, and curbs to prioritize street maintenance and construction projects.
