Abbey Road Intersection: Pedestrian Lights Added
On Monday, the Electric Department placed crossing lights and the Street Department placed pedestrian signs on both sides of the crosswalk.
“A large number of elementary students use this intersection to cross Fourth Street,” said Brad Palmer, City Utilities Director. “We added the signs and the lights to make the intersection easier to navigate and safer for kids.”
In late October, the City installed a crosswalk at the Abbey Road and Fourth Street intersection after monitoring pedestrian traffic and documenting an increasing number of young students crossing Fourth Street.
The total cost of the new crosswalk, signs and flashing lights is estimated to be less than $10,000.
