The League recently awarded the City of Pierre with a Gold Level Loss Control and Safety Achievement Award. The award honors City of Pierre employees for their efforts to protect the assets of the city by making the workplace safer for employees, reducing liability exposures and saving the taxpayers’ dollars.
“Regardless of work environment, safety must be a priority,” said Mayor Steve Harding. “I’m so proud of the City team for nurturing a culture of safety.”
The City of Pierre has more than 150 full-time employees, along with numerous part-time and seasonal employees. Together these employees are responsible for operating the City of Pierre’s Administrative, Airport, Building, Cemetery, Electric, Engineering, Fire, Golf, Library, Planning, Park, Police, Recreation, Street, Solid Waste, Wastewater, and Water Departments.
