Pierre, S.D. –If you’re looking for ways to be more environmentally friendly, check out Rawlins Municipal library this weekend. The library is hosting a special “Go Green” event on Saturday. It starts at 10 a.m. and features Pierre Mayor Laurie Gill and Nick Emme with the South Dakota Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
Mayor Gill will reflect on the eight years of the City’s Go Green and Clean environmental clean-up campaign and highlight what’s been accomplished since its inception. Then Emme, who serves as the Recycling Coordinator for the state, will present information about recycling, the recycling opportunities available in Pierre, and opportunities for conserving our natural resources. Light refreshments will be provided.
Following the speakers, you can turn their lessons into action by volunteering to remove litter and debris from the library grounds. Rawlins Library will begin its annual clean-up effort at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Staff expects the volunteer opportunity to take about an hour. Gloves and bags will be provided to all volunteers.
