PIERRE, S.D. – Beginning next month, all City of Pierre utility bills will be mailed the first Friday of each month. Payments will be due the third Friday of each month.
The change in billing practice will eliminate five-week billing cycles.
“Our customers have told us that the five-week billing cycles can cause budgeting concerns,” said Twila Hight, City of Pierre Finance Director. “By moving to this new billing practice, we’ll eliminate that issue while achieving some internal efficiencies.”
Hight is reminding people who utilize an auto-pay feature that their payments will now be automatically withdrawn from their bank accounts the third Friday of each month.
Previously, the City of Pierre utilized a zone billing system. With the zone system, utility bill mailings were staggered throughout the month based on physical location of the utility customer.
Additional information, including a billing schedule, will be mailed out to customers impacted by the change.
