Fourth Street Sinkhole Repair Scheduled
PIERRE, S.D. – Crews will begin repairing a sinkhole located on Fourth Street near the North Euclid intersection next week.
At their regularly scheduled meeting last night, City Commissioners approved a $40,000 contract with Morris, Inc. to replace 400 feet of failing storm sewer pipe responsible for the sinkhole. Morris, Inc. will also install a new manhole and repair and resurface the roadway.
Morris, Inc. will being work on the sinkhole on July 5 and is expected to have the work completed within three weeks. Throughout construction, Fourth Street, between Euclid Ave. and Governors Drive, will be closed to traffic. For a short time during the construction project, the northbound outside lane of Euclid Avenue will be closed. The public will be alerted to the lane restrictions by traffic signs.
