[ARCHIVED] Hwy 14 Truck Route: Lanes Closing for Building Move

Hwy 14 Truck Route: Lanes Closing for Building Move

PIERRE, S.D. – Four lanes of the Highway 14 Truck Route in northern Pierre will close overnight this week to accommodate the transportation of a building. The former Feeding South Dakota building, currently located at the northeast corner of the Highway 14 and Airport Road intersection, will be relocated to East Elizabeth Street.

Maberry House Moving will use a semi-truck to move the building down the Highway 14 Truck Route to its new location on East Elizabeth. In preparation for that move, four lanes of the truck route will close at 11 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6. The lanes will remain closed until the building has been moved off the truck route. The Pierre Police Department is coordinating traffic control and anticipates all lanes will reopen by 4 a.m. on Thursday, April 7. One lane of the truck route will remain open to traffic throughout the move. The Pierre Police Department will direct motorists accordingly.

Highway 14 intersections at Airport Road, Harrison Avenue and Flag Mountain Drive will be closed intermittently. Drivers should anticipate delayed traffic between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m.

If the Pierre area is experiencing high wind the evening of April 6, the move will be postponed.

Helping to coordinate the safe transport of the building are the Pierre Police Department, Pierre Electric Department, South Dakota Highway Patrol, South Dakota Department of Transportation, the property owner and Maberry House Moving.
