Pierre, S.D. – Pierre Rawlins Municipal Library has plenty to help keep kids busy this fall. Fall children’s programming begins next week.
Read and Tell: October 5 –October 31
Read and Tell is for kids in Kindergarten through eighth grade. The child just needs to read a book and then come to the library and tell a staff member about the book. After meeting with a staff member, the child will receive a free book and automatically be entered to win an additional prize.
Preschool Storytime: 10 a.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, entire Month of October.
Preschool Storytime is designed for non-school age children and includes stories, music, finger plays and other activities. No registration is required.
“Not Norman: A Goldfish Story”: October 22, 6:30 p.m.
Participants of this program will listen to the story “Not Norman: A Goldfish Story” and complete a fish decorating craft activity. The story, by Kelly Bennett, tells of a little boy who wants to trade in his goldfish for a pet that he can cuddle and play with. But things don’t go as planned. This program is part of Read for the Record ®, a global campaign to generate public support for high-quality early learning.
Lego Fun: Wednesday, October 28, 1:30 p.m.
Kids can listen to the story of “Rosie Revere, Engineer” –the story of a little girl with big ideas for big inventions. After the story is over, kids will have the chance to build their own inventions with LEGOs. October 28 is an early release day from Pierre Public Schools.
