GRIFFIN PARK CAMPGROUND
Open year-round, Griffin Park Campground is located on the southern edge of Griffin Park, adjacent to the scenic Missouri River. The campground features 16 parking spaces that can accommodate all sizes of camping vehicles. Renovated in 2004, each camping pad is constructed of asphalt chips, features electrical hookups, and is delineated by parking blocks. Picnic tables are nearby. A camper dump station is located at the west end of the campground. Potable water is available at the dump station to fill holding tanks between April and November. You will also find showers, bathrooms, and a storm shelter near the campground, which is open from May through October.
The city does not take reservations for the campground. It is on a first-come, first-served basis. Campers are asked to fill out reservation cards and deposit them, along with the required fees, in the lock box located at the site. Parks staff visit the campground regularly throughout the year.
Over 1,000 campers enjoy staying at this facility each year, as it is conveniently located near downtown Pierre, the state capitol, St. Mary’s Hospital, Down’s Marina, and the many attractions of Griffin Park.
FEES
- $25 per night during May through October.
- $16 per night from November through April, but please note that bathroom facilities and potable water are unavailable during this period as they are winterized.
