Library Card

At Rawlins Municipal Library everyone is eligible to receive a library card, however, Rawlins Library provides free library cards for residents of City of Pierre, City of Fort Pierre, Hughes County, and Stanley County. 

Patrons residing out of these areas pay a $15/yr fee for a card.

NON-CARD HOLDER BENEFITS

  • Public computer access with internet and Microsoft Office (requires photo ID)  
  • WiFi and mobile printing  
  • Printing, scanning, copying, and faxing  
  • Adult and children’s programming  
  • South Dakota newspapers and a variety of magazines for reading in the library  
  • Access to the Capital Journal e-edition, ABC Mouse, World Book, and more using our WiFi or Public Computers  
  • Technical assistance from library staff

Application

To obtain a card, come to the library, provide two documents (one from each column below), and complete a short application process. 

1. PHOTO ID
 
can be any of the following:
  • State issued Driver's License
  • State issued Identification Card
  • US Passport
  • Military ID
  • Tribal ID
2. RESIDENCY VERIFICATION
can be any of the following
  • Piece of cancelled mail
  • Bank/Mortgage Statement
  • Home/Renters Insurance Policy
  • Rent/Phone/Utility Bill
  • Pay stub or Tax document
  • Vehicle Registration

Juvenile accounts (under the age of 18) can get a library card if they are linked to a parent/guardian. The parent/legal guardian must authorize the application for their minor child. The parent/legal guardian will be responsible for all items borrowed from or used in Rawlins Municipal Library by their minor child.
