| Bill Alexander, Fire Chief |
| William P. Alexander joined the City of Pierre Fire Department in November 2005 as the department’s first full time paid fire chief. Prior to moving to Pierre he served as the fire chief of Laramie County Fire District #1 in Wyoming, from February 2003 to October 2005.
William is originally from Barberton, Ohio and is a 1982 graduate of Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio with an Associate of Science in Recreation and Wildlife. He joined the United States Air Force in January 1983 and served from 1983 to 1999 as a firefighter. From 1999 to 2003 he served on the Wing Command Staff at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico. During his service he filled the following positions in the fire service: Plug man, Nozzle man, Driver/Operator, Crew Chief, Communication Center Operator, Station Chief, Building Inspector, Assistant Chief, Battle Staff Coordinator, and Instructor at the DOD Fire Academy. He retired from the Air Force in April 2003.
Chief Alexander holds the following state or national certifications: Fire Officer III, Master Fire Instructor, Hazardous Material Incident Commander, and Fire Inspector I. He is a member of the South Dakota Firefighters Association, South Dakota Fire Chief’s Association, The National Fire Protection Association, the International Association of Fire Chiefs, and the Volunteer and Combination Officers Section of the International Association of Fire Chiefs. He is a former member of the Wyoming Fire Chiefs Association and the Wyoming Firefighters Certification Committee. He is also a reviewer of fire service textbooks for Jones & Bartlett Publishing.
He is a 1994 graduate with honors from Chapman University with a Bachelor Degree in Business Management. William and his wife, Dena, reside in Pierre, South Dakota.

| Ian Paul, Deputy Chief |
| Ian Paul is currently serving at the Deputy Chief with the Pierre Fire Department and has been in this positon for four years. He has also served the Department as 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Lieutenant, Rescue Captain, and 2nd Assistant Chief. Ian has been on the Pierre Fire Department for 12 years.
Ian has attended numerous trainings and holds multiple certifications related to firefighting. He continues to attend classes, conferences, fire school trainings, and other educational offerings available to keep current in the field of firefighting.
Deputy Chief Paul is married and has four children. He is employed by the State of South Dakota in the Office of Risk Manangement where he has worked for 11 years. He enjoys any outdoor activities, especially camping, fishing and motorcycle riding. Ian adds that "being a member of the Pierre Fire Department has been a positive influence in my life, and in my family's life. I hope to continue to serve the Department and my community for as long as I am able."

|
Paula Tronvold is the Secretary for the Pierre Fire Department and a member of Truck #1. This is Paula's second year as the Department Secretary. She has also held positions of 2nd Lt. on Truck #1 for two years and Secretary/Treasurer for Truck #1.
Secretary Tronvold has been a member of the Pierre Fire Department since January of 2008 and was also a member of the Hurley (SD) Fire Department from 1989-1991. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of South Dakota, is a Certified EMT and a Fire Course Instructor.
Paula and her husband, Jeff, have two children: Gerrit and Kassie. She enjoys cross-stitching, reading, going to her kids' activities, and the animals on their acreage. Paula is employed by the State of South Dakota as a Parole Agent and also works part-time at the Hughes County Jail.

Doug is in his third year as Training Officer for the Pierre Fire Department and a member of PFD since 1998. He has also held positions of Department Secretary/Treasurer; 1st and 2nd Lieutenant and Captain of Engine #1; 1st Lieutenant and Captain of Rescue Squad; 1st and 2nd Assistant Department Chief. Doug has also served as Captain of the Pierre Rural Fire Department and has been a member of Pierre Rural since 2003. The training and certifications that Doug has received number in the 80's. He has a large number of leadership, firefighter, investigative, and hazmat courses and certifications.
Doug has also been honored with several awards from the Pierre Fire Department:

Doug and his fiance, Noel, have 4 children: Jaimie, Ashley, Kaitlin, and Cade. He enjoys camping, hunting, following his kids' sporting events, and mechanical-type projects. He is currently employed by the South Dakota Fire Marshal's Office. Doug says that he "enjoys being on the Pierre Fire Department and has met a lot of wonderful people" during his years with the department.
