Pierre City Hall

Present: Pastor Brad Urbach (Chair), Tom Farnsworth, Brenda Goeden, Ann Lewis, DeWayne Donaldson, Greg Dean and, Mindy Cheap

 Guest: Blaine Brakke (summer intern)

 Pastor Brad Urbach called the meeting to order at 4:00PM.

 Policy For Naming/Renaming Park Facilities: Mr. Farnsworth handed out a draft policy that he, Pastor Urbach and Ms. Lewis compiled. The Board agreed to make a couple changes under the “Naming for Major Donations” section. Ms. Goeden made a motion, seconded by Ms. Lewis, to approve the Policy for Naming/Renaming of Parks and/or Recreational Facilities, with the recommended changes. Motion carried.

• Bike Racks: Mr. Farnsworth reported that he requested $2000 for additional bike racks throughout the city. Ms. Lewis will provide the Board a list of where there are currently bike racks.
• Storage Shed: Mr. Farnsworth reported that they are waiting for concrete bids and that the goal is to have the structure built by October.
• YMCA Report: Mr. Donaldson reported that they have a meeting tomorrow with the contractor to get final numbers on costs, etc. They hope to start construction in early fall. He informed the Board that he heard there is a group lobbying to get the Special Olympics State Basketball Tournament in Pierre.
• Sports Complex Upgrades: Mr. Farnsworth reported that on August 2 they will start the coordination to remove the asphalt. The goal is to start construction this fall.
• Summer Recreation Program: Ms. Cheap reported that the summer recreation programs are winding down and that she will concentrate on cleaning out the storage units.
• State Hershey Track Meet: Ms. Cheap reported that she will get the information from Aberdeen, who hosted the 2010 track meet. The 2011 meet will be held in Pierre June 25. This event will require many volunteers.

 Next Meeting: August 19, 2010 at 4PM at City Hall.
