Local Young People to perform the musical The Bard of Ballyfiddle
Pierre Parks and Recreation and the Children’s theatre Company of South Dakota invite everyone to an evening and afternoon of fun and entertainment when Pierre’s young talent present The Bard of Ballyfiddle, Friday, July 9th at 7 pm and Saturday, July 10th at 3 pm, at Riggs High School Theatre.
In The Bard of Ballyfiddle, the Sheldon W. Serious School is in trouble! Principle Farley has just implemented the “Serious Plan for Proper Education”, which features and no-joy policy and most devastatingly the elimination of music (which has been proven to cause joy!).
A strange Bard and a Mysterious Symphony of Sound show up, and the children discover the magical world of Ballyfiddle. When they learn to listen to their hearts, they devise a clever plan for restoring joy to their school.
The performance is the culmination of a unique learning experience for 23 children from Pierre. This special weeklong event gives children a chance to learn what it’s like to take part in a professionally produced stage musical, from auditions and rehearsals through the final performance. Make plans to attend and take part in the fun! The Bard of Ballyfiddle will entertain the entire family! Tickets are available for $5 at the door.
This residency in Pierre is made possible by Pierre parks and Recreation with support provided by the State of South Dakota, through the Department of Tourism and State Development, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
