Minutes – June 19th, 2012
The meeting was called to order: 12:10 by Gordon Koch
Members present: Gordon Koch, Don Zeller, John Salladay, Marv Paulson, Eileen Fischer, Leon Schochenmaier, Dave Bonde
Members absent: Alice Wright, Crystal Hanson
Guests Present: None
Approval of Minutes of May 14th, 2011: A review of the May minutes was conducted. A motion was made by John Salladay to approve the minutes, seconded by Dave Bonde. Motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report: No expenditures for the month. Authorization for the Historical Society grant is in the account with the City approval for spending.
Building Permit Review: None
· Review BPro QR Code Project contract – A discussion and review of the BPro contract was performed by Don Zeller. Some specific performance items will be added to the contract by Don. These had previously been discussed with BPro. Leon Schochenmaier will determine if the city needs to sign the contract or if the Historical Commission can enter into the agreement.
· QR Code property listing narratives update – John Salladay has reviewed the duplicate property narratives and consolidated them as required. They are ready to be used in the QR code project.
· Review Project Management assignments - A brief review of the “Project Plan” and milestones was conducted. Eileen Fischer will take the lead in property owner notifications of our initiative and discuss QR code placement possibilities. Other areas of the plan will be updated as needed.
· Cap Journal story and followup – The Capitol Journal has tentatively agreed to do an article on the QR code project when it is complete and operational. This will be a follow up article to the story done last month with Gordon Koch.
· Cedar Hill Cemetery Tour – The Cedar Hill Cemetery tour will take place on June 28th at 7PM. Busses will leave from the Casey Tibbs Center and provide transportation compliments of River City Transit. The tour will be narrated by Carl Fischer from Fort Pierre.
· Missouri River Bridge Dedication – A discussion was held on the bridge dedication ceremony that was cancelled last year. Leon and Dave will check the Pierre and Fort Pierre mayor’s schedules for an agreeable date. The target date is in late September. The signs will be erected by the two cities’ Park and Recreation departments in the next few weeks. Gordon Koch will review the anticipated attendee list.
· Lindbergh landing strip – Don Zeller reviewed the latest information and research on the sign erection at the site north of Pierre. He will make some informal calls to the DOT and the Pilots Association to determine any interest in funding. The total project will cost in the neighborhood of $3000.
Announcements/Other Business – Dave Bonde announced that there is an Oahe Dam rededication ceremony planned on August 17, 2012. It is being sponsored by the Department of Tourism and the Corps of Engineers. More information will be provided as it is available.
