Griffin
Park Campground
Open year round and
located on the Southern edge of Griffin Park next to
the scenic Missouri River, Griffin Park Campground
features 16 parking spaces that can accommodate all
sizes of camping vehicles. Newly renovated in 2004,
each camping pad is built of asphalt chips, has
electrical hookups and is defined by the use of
parking blocks. Picnic tables are nearby. Water is
available at the restroom facility located next to
the camp sites. The restroom has a sink but no
showers. A new camper dump station is also located
at the site.
The City does not take
reservations for the campground. It is on a first
come, first serve basis. Campers are asked to fill
out reservation cards and deposit them with the
required fees in the lock box at the site. Parks
staff visit the campground on a regular basis during
the summer months.
Fees are $15.00
per night during the months of April through October.
Fees are $10.00 per
night during the months of November through March
but bathroom facilities are not available as they
are winterized during this time.
Over
1,000 campers enjoy staying at this facility on a
yearly basis as it permits them to be close to
downtown Pierre, the State Capital, St. Mary’s
Hospital, Down’s Marina and the many attractions of
Griffin Park.
