Pick it Up - Clean it Up! - June/July/August

The City of Pierre promotes the Pick it Up – Clean it Up phase of the Go Green & Clean Campaign by providing a recycling program for those old computers and electronic equipment laying around. For recycling information on these items and fluorescent bulbs click here

July 7, 2010 - Pierre Area Chapter of Walleyes Unlimited - Lake Sharpe River front clean up to be completed

The Group collected 6,880 pounds (3.44 ton) of debris up along the river. The debris was collected with boats and hauled to the ramp. The city provided a roll off container to haul the debris to the Solid Waste Facility & Landfill for this clean up project. Thanks to the Central Walleyes Unlimited Chapter, the Izaak Walton league, SD Game, Fish and Parks, The Corps of Engineers, the US Fish & Wildlife Service, the US Forest Service and the High Plains Wildlife Club for providing this cleanup project and disposal fees for the debris. Items collected include: waste tires, pallets/wood debris, mattresses, water heater, misc. beverage containers and scrap metal debris.
