Welcome!

Thank you for checking out our "Go Green and Clean Campaign" for the City of Pierre. This is not a campaign for public office. It is a campaign for a "call to service". I am asking citizens of the City of Pierre to work with me to help green up and clean up our community. Mayor Laurie R. Gill will kick off the City of Pierre third annual “Go Green and Clean” campaign on Sunday, April 22 during a celebration of national Earth Day at the South Dakota Discovery Center. The Go Green and Clean campaign is a “call to service” campaign where citizens and/or organizations are asked to consider volunteering a few hours of time to conduct a cleanup activity within the community.

The South Dakota Discovery Center is holding an Earth Day celebration from 1 to 4 pm on Sunday April 22. Admission to the Center is free. Mayor Gill will speak to those attending that day at 1:30 pm. Anne Lewis, a member of the City of Pierre Park and Recreation Advisory Board and staff member of the Discovery Center said she is excited about the number of activities that will be offered, “We are planning to have tables where citizens can learn more about how to reduce, reuse and recycle.” Lewis said any organization or community group with an interest in conservation, environmental protection, gardening, beautification, etc. that would like to participate can contact her at the Discovery Center for more information. The number to call is 224-8295.
