Three years ago, Pierre
Mayor Laurie Gill implemented the “Go Green and
Clean” campaign, a call to service campaign asking
citizens and organizations to volunteer a few hours
of time to help clean up the community. And this
year’s committee is excited to announce the campaign
is bigger than ever with a whole week of different
cleanup activities! “Earth Awareness Week” kicks off
on Sunday, April 21st and ends with the Community
Wide Cleanup on Saturday, April 27th.
GO GREEN & CLEAN
BUSINESS CONTEST
This year’s Go Green and Clean committee is giving
businesses a chance to be named the Go Green & Clean
Business of Spring and a free lunch for the office
just by promoting your own efforts to go green
during Earth Awareness Week!
Some ideas are: having sales on landscaping,
gardening, or energy efficient items at your
business, or simply setting up a special display of
those items in your store; using advertising to
promote your go green efforts through radio,
newspaper, Facebook page, etc; participating in the
business clean-up day on Tuesday, April 23rd; and
putting a team together for the community wide
cleanup day on Saturday, April 27th!
In addition to a free office lunch, the chosen
business will receive a plaque from the City and be
recognized by Mayor Laurie Gill in front of the City
Commission. They will also be featured in local
media outlets. Winner will be announced on Monday,
April 29th.
Register your business in the contest today!
Deadline to enter is
Wednesday, April 17th. Office lunch provided for up
to 10 employees.
