Park Facilities
Eleven parks, eleven tennis courts, a beach volleyball court, a Frisbee course, basketball courts, horseshoe pits, two swimming beaches, indoor & outdoor swimming pools, a band concert shell, an assortment of playground equipment, showers & bathrooms, fishing piers, seven little league baseball fields, baseball diamond, pony league field, eight softball fields, eight soccer fields, an outdoor skate park and 3.5 miles of bike path.
Camping Facilities
Griffin Park has newly renovated camping facilities with sixteen electrical hookups, holding tank disposal, space for extra parking, five (5) day limit, 1/2 block away from the marina. The fee for overnight camping is $15 per night per camping unit. The fee is an honor based system. City Commission Receives Update on Tree Plantings
Larry Weiss, Chief Services Officer, for the City of Pierre Cities of Service project, gave an update to the Mayor and City Commission regarding how volunteers and staff worked together to plant trees since the 2011 flood. Over 198 volunteers donated 900 plus hours in the effort. Citizens, business’s, state agencies, service clubs and others donated over $21,000 dollars to the City to purchase and replant trees.
