Section 10-10-101. Application and fee for refuse Hauler's License.

No person, firm or corporation shall collect refuse for hire within the City without a license issued by the City Commission and payment of an annual fee of $25.00 therefore. All licensees and persons, firms or corporations transporting or disposing of refuse in the City of Pierre Landfill shall pay at time of disposal or provide financial assurance, on an annual basis, in the form of a bond, letter of credit, certificate of deposit or other assurance acceptable to the City of Pierre in an amount which is the greater of $5,000.00 or such increment of $5,000 to assure payment for at least four months estimated waste disposal charges. If after 24 consecutive bills, the refuse hauler has paid their waste disposal bill within 30 days of the billing and has 5 years of experience in the refuse hauling business, the financial assurance will no longer be required.

Application for and revocation of said licenses shall be as provided in Article 1 of this chapter, provided that such license shall be for a period of ten years and shall be revocable only for cause. Failure to pay waste disposal bill within 30 days of billing constitutes cause for revocation.
