Article 2 PARKS - GENERAL PROVISIONS

Sections 5-2-101 to 199, inclusive - general provisions.

Section 5-2-101.   Designated and named park property.

 

             The following described properties now owned and held by the city for park purposes and being a part of the park system of the city, are hereby designated and named as follows:

            A. Hipple Park. The area between U.S. Highway 14-83, Dakota Avenue and James Street.

            B. Hyde Park. Lots 1 & 2, Hyde Stadium Addition.

            C. John B. Griffin Park. Outlot "B" of the City of Pierre, excepting that property owned by or leased to the Benedictine Sisters of St. Mary's Hospital of Pierre, South Dakota.

            D. Mateer Park. Block 35 of the Fifth Railway addition to the City of Pierre, Hughes County, South Dakota.

            E. Steamboat Memorial Park. That part of Outlots "E" and "F" to the City of Pierre, South Dakota, commencing at a point where the westerly line of William Street, extended, intersects the southerly line of Missouri Avenue, thence southerly along the westerly line of William Street, extended, to the Missouri River thence northerly along the said river to a point where the said River intersects the southerly line of the State Highway Right-of-Way, thence along the southerly line of the State Highway Right-Of-Way to its intersection with the southerly line of Missouri Avenue and continuing along the said southerly line of Missouri Avenue to place of beginning.

            F. Brandts Pond Park. Block 36 of Fifth Railway Addition to the City of Pierre, Hughes County, South Dakota.

            G.  Devine Park. Block 52, Wells Second Addition to the City of Pierre, Hughes County, South Dakota.

            H. LaBarge Park. Lots 2 to 16, both inclusive, Block 16, Oahe Addition to the City of Pierre, Hughes County, South Dakota.

            I. Oahe Softball Complex. Blocks 142, 143, 144, and 145, Wells Second Addition to the City of Pierre, Hughes County, South Dakota.

            J. Harrison Park. West 5’ Lot 3 and Lots 4-14, Block 2 and the West 5’ of Lot 3 and Lots 4-14, Block 11, all in Thealls Addition.

Section 5-2-104. Additional city parks set aside for public use.

            A. Block Five (5), Riverview Addition to the City of Pierre now owned and held by the City of Pierre is hereby designated for park purposes.

            B. That part of Outlots F and G owned by the city of Pierre is hereby designated for park purposes.

            C. West five (5) feet of Lot 3 and all of Lots 4 through 14 inclusive, Block 2, and the west five (5) feet of Lot 3 and all lots 4 through 14, inclusive, Block 11, with vacated streets and alleys all in Thealls Addition is hereby designated for park purposes.
